: notice that permaculture's starting point is "Care for the Earth." All the principles should be undertaken to support that core ethic. In general permaculture is intended to be a practical approach to life for people as they go about their daily life. Most people do not perceive everything as energy or consciousness. It is more practical to start off with a view that people can relate to at present; in time, their view and understanding may evolve to a higher level.
The abuse of the Earth has become so severe that it is urgent to appeal to and enlist the support of as many people as possible to avert or forestall a disastrous degradation of our planetary life support system. Promulgating the permaculture outlook could serve to protect life on Earth. The permaculture principles are not fixed rules mandating specific actions, but rather a more compassionate and caring way of life.
