Tomorrow marks the one year anniversary of something that cost me
$1,000 out of pocket.
This Suburban turned right from the Left lane directly in front of me;
My left front struck his right rear.
He Tried To Run
I followed about ¼mi trying to call 911, when he stopped.
I wish I had finished that call!!
He said he suddenly realized he'd left his license at the house,
And was turning (across the right lane in which I was driving)
To go back and get it. He was driving his girlfriends truck
He didn't have paper proof of insurance, but he had pics of the
Owners policy, BUT....
Yes, I had "Uninsured Motorist", but he did not have permission
(he was not covered under her policy) to be driving his girlfriends car,
so my insurance couldn't recover THEIR expenses nor my deductible
(the thousand bucks)
My insurance DID fix my car. If I had gotten a police report (the unfinished
911 call) I might have been able to get SOME money back from a
Civil lawsuit, but I didn't want to involve the police, I was on my way
To a Dr's appointment. The police would have taken their sweet Time
Getting there, taking their own photos and writing it up, very likely
Taking him in for driving with no license ( presuming he wasn't lying
And really DID have a license.)
I learned an expensive lesson that day.
