It was a special Sunday at the church. The pastor had suggested the week prior that instead of passing the offering plate as the congregation normally would that each person bring their offering plate down front this week. So, as the music begin to play and after a short prayer for the offering, the people in the auditorium began to file out of their seats and come by the table at the front dropping their offerings in the offering plates at the front of the worship center.
Everyone had passed by the table, or so the pastor thought. Until nine-year-old Daniel slipped out of the pew with his piggy bank under his arm and headed to the front. The piggy bank began to rattle noisily as he headed to the front, piggy bank under his arm like a football quarterback. When he approached the offering table, he pulled out the stopper and dumped all the change on the table as coins rolled onto the floor. People began to smile, pull out their phones, and take pictures. Then Daniel held up the piggy bank to the light, and began to pull the paper money out of the bank and throw it onto the table.
When he was sure the piggy bank was empty, he put the stopper back in, and began to head to his seat, but the pastor had to stop him. All eyes were now on this young boy and the pastor.
“Daniel, aren’t you worried about dumping out all your money today? You gave all your money to God,” the pastor inquired.
The young boy looked up and without hesitation responded.
“Nope,” Daniel said, “because my daddy will fill it up again!!”
People began to laugh, then, it got quiet as the congregation realized the impact of what the little boy had said.
The pastor said, “There’s your sermon for the day.”
Big insight from a small kid.
