Yesterday, April 2nd was National Ferret Day . It seems that something or other is celebrated almost every day of the year, and back when I used to regularly keep up my Facebook Business Page, I would post an image about the day's celebration. I did not do it every day, and I am not promising to do it every day here either. But I will post on days that have some interest to me. It sounds like a fun little project to motivate me to post. Join in if you like!
The above photograph was taken in 1999 for a project I was working on with Eyewire, a former stock agency which changed hands a few times before being bought out by Getty Images, and the little girl model is now a college graduate with a career of her own!
After all these years, this is still a very successful shot. You may have seen it at pet stores, in pet magazines etc. You have to agree that the image is timeless. There is no clothing or particular hairstyle to give away the fact that the image is 19 years old and shot on transparency film before the days of digital for stock!
The idea to revive this theme came from the very talented artist in this post. So, many thanks
for giving me some inspiration!
Today April 3 is - among other things - NATIONAL FIND A RAINBOW DAY, so I will try to find a rainbow somewhere in my files to make another post for today! I said "among other things," because there are many more subjects you could choose!
To join my new challenge, this is all you have to do:
- Use YOUR OWN photography
- Use the tag #nationaldays
- Check the web on sites like this for the day's challenges to choose from
- Write a post daily, or as often as you like
- Anyone can join in, but nominate 2 people if you like
- Copy and paste the challenge guidelines into your post
I nominate and
to make a post starting today or tomorrow. If you don't want to do it, no pressure! The challenge is open to anyone! It's a great way to come up with themes for your posts!
If you wish to participate in the #wiwcontest for this week, you will find the theme and the rules here. Any SBD donations towards the rewards would be most welcome.
Thanks for taking the time to read this! I appreciate it. Please check out my photography-101 account here for tips and tutorials about photography.
