There are quite a few reasons 2020 was a terrible year. Aside from Covid and lockdowns, we got bad news about my husband's beloved 18 year old tuxedo cat. Poor Vick has Kidney Disease and probably doesn't have much time on this Earth.
Even though we've had lots of other animals, my husband always said only was was his. He has had Vick since before we met 10 years ago. He's had her since she was a baby. When she does pass it will be hard on him.
That's why I have kept my eye out for another tuxedo kitten. I always figured it would be good to have another cat he can love and be attached to like he is Vick. All our other cats we rescued as adults so he never bonded with them the same way. A new kitten I figured would offer him his next lifelong friend. He and I also agreed we wanted Vick to meet the next generation tuxedo cat.
I found a beautiful little tuxedo kitten at the animal shelter. I'd been looking around for a while and then there she was. My husband fell in love and we rescued her. He named her Cam after Cam Newton his favorite football player.
The other 6 cats welcomed her with very little conflict or issues. I think they are use to new arrivals at this point so they are indifferent to the new girl in town. My husband is bonding with her nice and our 4 year old loves her. At least she's made life a bit more interesting during the dullness of staying home all the time due to Covid.
