In a case that's all to familiar that doesn't usually end well, deputies and animal control caught up to a man with 36 dogs living in his vehicle and they were a very happy family.
— Eaton County Sheriff’s Office deputies have been working with a man who was found to have 36 dogs in his vehicle.
Eaton County Sheriff Tom Reich said deputies first encountered the man on May 15.
He confirmed deputies, assisted by an animal control officer and the Capital Area Humane Society, made contact with the man. The dogs were examined and were found to have no “open sores” or fleas.
Reich said the dogs were healthy, not under stress and were “very much happy.”
That had to be an incredible undertaking, practically a full time job keeping them "very much happy" and healthy. Imagine the kind of hardship they may have once endured to find comfort in the back windshield, and luxury getting the front seat once every thirty six days. I imagine love can spring forth from the most of confined spaces. Luckily deputies convinced the man they had reached their capacity limits and he agrees to release ten puppies and two pregnant dogs over to animal control.
After speaking with the Capital Area Humane Society, the man agreed to release ten puppies and two pregnant adult dogs into their care. One of those adults is currently giving birth.
The sheriff said that the Capital Area Humane Society is working with the man to have the remaining dogs vaccinated, spayed and neutered.
The Capital Area Humane Society says the dogs will be available for adoption once intake and processing are complete.
The couple that made the complaint about the man weren't happy, deputies informed them the man hadn't committed any crimes they were aware of, or violated any animal laws.
Reich said that the man “has not committed any crimes that we are aware of and has not violated any animal laws.”
Kassandra and Isaiah Williams say they were quite upset after seeing the large number of dogs inside the vehicle.
“It’s just concerning because like how do you load up all those dogs in a car and just expect to just drive around every day?” Kassandra said.
As they were one big happy crampy family, does it really matter. All's well that ends well in this unbelievable story.
