I've been with my partner for about 3 years now and we finally found the right time to go back to her home country (Philippines). Obviously it was quite nerve-racking for me, as I was meeting her family for the first time. But the excitement of travelling 6000 miles from the UK was enough to forget any worries I had.
After the longest flight of my life... 16 hours! We finally landed in Manila, even though it was 2am the temperature was well above 30c and the streets were very busy. We were welcomed by her father and brother at the airport and went straight back to the family home, where we would be spending most of our 3 weeks.
I didn't know you could have so many relatives until I met my partner's family. During my second day in the Philippines, we traveled 4 hours to get to a private villa that we rented, and spent 3 days there. I didn't feel like I was a stranger at all. All of them were very welcoming and very interested in my life in the UK.
We managed to visit Tagaytay for a day, which was full of activities and beautiful scenery.
After meeting the family and spending a few days with them, me and my partner went on a little vacation to El Nido. It has to be one of the most naturally beautiful places I've ever been to. We had so many things we wanted to do here, but only a short time to do them in. But we managed to go on a tour around the mangrove forest which was full of wildlife... even snakes falling from trees!

Then to finish of a perfect trip we went to Puerto Princessa, to see the Underground Cave (one of the 7 wonders of the world).
The only way to get there was by boat, it's only a short trip but is really worth while, as you get to see amazing eye catching scenery.
On the other side of the beach was the entrance to the Underground Cave, where opportunist monkeys were waiting to grab anything you have!
The water in the river was as clear as bottled water and very warm
On our way back we came across a monitor lizard that refused to let us past, it was hunting some chickens in the bush.
I don't think I could find another place I want to return to as much as the Philippines, it has so much to see! Plus we now have another addition to the family who I'm sure would love to go as much as I would!
