I was reading a post from a couple of weeks ago about Presenting Steemit To People/Students/Youths. I wanted to expound on his points about presenting Steemit to students specifically, and cover how the students can benefit from participating in this platform. The headings used here are from the linked post of
followed by my thoughts trying to expound on each heading based on my limited experience in Steemit.
To Find Yourself, To Define Yourself
I believe that we are all students in life from the moment we are born, to the time we join our creator. Students in the campus however, are the ones who struggle the most in finding themselves. By joining Steemit you would be forced to find and create your own identity. This can be expidited by making meaningful connections with the community, who would in turn pretty much tell you what they appreciate about you the most, what they feel you are really passionate about, and where are they feel you will be most successful in.
To Redefine Yourself, To Find New Knowledge, To Hone Your Art, To Become a Better Version of Yourself
In the process, all of us - students most specially, will learn multiple things by just continuing to write and post in Steemit. It will be tough, maybe even frustrating in the begining. As you go however, you would find yourself learning and improving in the process; which is the very essence of being a student.
To Know How To Interact
- 1 Asking more relevant questions
- 2 Writting on topics that mean something to you and your followers
- 3 Resisting the temptation to send lots of small, trivial, unrelated messages
The more repetitive and superficial the comments are, the bigger the likelihood is of being ignored, unfollowed, maybe even flagged from time to time.
To Win Extra Bucks for Books and Pencils
We have a lot of students from Cebu who are making extra bucks for miscellaneous school expenses through the efforts of ,
and their team. They are also benefiting from the platform in other ways discussed above, while significantly contributing to the growth of Steemit via their social recruiting efforts, and beautifully written contents. More than the obvious reasons, here is why I think extra income from Steemit can be beneficial for students.
- 1 It can serve as a safety net for the rainy days. I remember how I almost quit the university because of financial problems. I am glad my parents were able to pull it through. With Steemit today, students will not have to feel helpless in that regard.
- 2 Steemit is a good introduction to investing. To be more successful here, one needs to stake at least some of the earnings to further his or her influence. Keeping your stake into something you really believe will pay off in the future is the most basic concept of investing. I only got to learn about investing recently. The students of today can learn the basic concepts of investing through Steemit.
- 3 Use of extra time more productively is, in opinion, the greatest gift students of today can get from Steemit. 95% of college students use some form of social media. Lots millennials use social media 1.0 for "superficial" reasons to keep an "image" up, some to even create a "pseudo life". In Steemit, our students of today will learn about the ups and downs of "real-life", learn how to adapt, and earn some extra bucks while doing it.
Thank you for reading this, and I hope I was able to do justice to Terry's ideas in his post that inspired me to write this one. In writing this post, I learned some more basic formatting related to aligning images. I really believe that it made the look and feel of this post better than my previous ones. To learn more about that too, this is the article from that I referred to: How to Align Images in Steemit Posts - Left, Right and Center.
