A 'Conscious' Universe
I have been thinking. Recently, I have been thinking about the Universe. Are we the universe experiencing itself? If we are, is it possible that the Universe functioned in such a manner in which it has lead to consciousness? The Universe may be aware of itself through us.
Do We Represent The Universe?
We might represent the Universe. We are a small puzzle piece in the intricate image of the entire Universe, but still, we must represent the Universe. Your foot represents you, in a small way. In this same sense, we may be an insignificant speck in the Universe, but we still represent it to a certain extent.
Perhaps we are what the Universe needs for it to become aware of itself and its existence. Due to the fact that we are technically representing the Universe, the more that we learn about the Universe, the more the Universe is learning about itself. We are just the vessel used to gain this knowledge.
To be honest, to say if the Universe is 'conscious' or not, be have to define consciousness. I believe that consciousness if communication. Things communicate even at molecular levels; protons attract neutrons. Individual elements form bonds to create complex molecular structures and organism and life form. We always have this sort of communication going on throughout our Universe, even if you do not regard it as 'conscious communication'.
The Universe Is Not 'Conscious'
Some may say the Universe is not conscious and state that communication is the transfer of ideas from one thinking entity to another. This would mean the non-thinking entities we were talking about before, elements and molecules, are not valid evidence for the Universe being conscious.
Something can have a level of cognizance while never imparting to its surroundings as consciousness simply has an understanding.
The world that we live in has its consequences on everybody. It enables me to collect thoughts from it. The world transmits stimuli to me, and I give a response, yet It doesn't transmit Ideas to me.
