On 15 November, we celebrate the feast of Saint Albert the Great. Albert was born around 1193 in Bavaria and joined the Dominicans at a young age. He taught in Paris and was eventually tasked with founding a college in Cologne for the Order. As a teacher, he is known for being the mentor of Saint Thomas Aquinas.
In Cologne, Albert wrote extensively on his scientific experiments in physics, chemistry and the natural sciences. He also wrote on the philosophy of Aristotle. His works were so profound that he was declared a Doctor of the Church.
Sanctus Albertus Magnus, ora pro nobis!
