"The whole is more than the sum of its parts."
"Education is an ornament in prosperity and a refuge in adversity."
"I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies; for the hardest victory is over self."
"Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit."
Aristotle
was an Greek philosopher and Scientist from Stagira in northern Greece. At the time philosophy (Observation of Nature) and what we call now call science were similar fields of knowledge. The works of this famous man span an incredible amount of knowledge in various fields including: physics, mathematics, biology, zoology, metaphysics, logic, ethics, aesthetics, poetry, theater, music, rhetoric, psychology, linguistics, politics and government. It is safe to say that his scriptures and methodologies were the founding stones of a range of scientific fields to emerge and develop over time. Aristotle was one of Plato's pupils and honored his masters work. Later on however, he established what we now call Empiricism: Conclusions made by Observation and Experimentation; Today this is a fundamental part of scientific research methodology. After the death of Plato, Philip II of Macedon requested him to become the teacher of Alexander the Great . This occupation gave Aristotle access to supplies, literature and equipment for his studies as well as enabling him to publish his own scriptures.Which quote did you like the most?
