What is happiness? There is no particular answer for it- Or it is the state of the mind that defies the happiness. The eternal question and endless search for happiness are varied accordingly to the personal belief and habit.
Accordingly, Hindu philosophy happiness is divided into three states (Satvik{Pure state},Rajasik{Object oriented} and Tamasik{Slothfulness}) accordingly to the character of the person...
-Satvik(Pure state)- It comes from strong mental discipline and knowing the knowledge of soul( Philosophy of Life),True happiness comes from the peaceful mind that not depend on the external factor.
-Rajasik(Object Oriented)- Fragile happiness that arises from the greed, which never satisfies, wonder mind that always looks for the external stimulation for its gratification. It is rightly said that when a person contemplates that any object as his happiness, he develops an attachment with that object. Attachment leads to desire. If the desire is not fulfilled it leads to anger or if it is fulfilled it leads to greed. Greed and Anger will destroy the person, his discrimination power will lose as a result memory will be bewildered and slowly his intellect will destroy.
-Tamasic(Slothfulness)
Temporary happiness which arises from laziness, they are basically good for nothing.
”labor is a perishable commodity.”
He will become the slave of his senses and at the end the frustration and disappointment will left with him. Lazy people lost the ability to do hard work.
So happiness comes from a person character, some feel happy by serving the community and some feel happy by exploiting humanity.
What is a character? How a person develops a character.?
Will discuss on next chapter.
