A wise man once said that the mind is like a garbage bin. A garbage bin is very useful but the minute you start living in a garbage bin, that`s when the issues arise. And that is the problem with most people today, are living in the garbage bin of the mind. The mind is a very powerful tool, it is what we use to persevere our current reality, and what we use to manifest things into our reality.
For example, you may be hungry so think of what to eat and say you thought of making a sandwich. That sandwich only came into existence because of just a thought that was in your mind. So what you are capable of manifest is in direct correlation of what you think of. So if you are constantly thinking negative, depressing thoughts, negative and depressing things will happen in your reality.
So it is important to slow down the mind. Because of all the junk we think of during our day to day can be very tiring. Constant thoughts about work, bills, what you have to do and etc. This cause us to stay stressful and worrisome because we are constantly focus on everything except the present moment. When we focus on the present moment, we get more in tune with our true selves. Time itself is an illusion, the only time that really matter and really exist is the present. For example the past was the present and the future will be the present. So you see how living in anything but the present will cause you suffering, because the past and future don't exist but that's were mostly people live. Worrying is fearing what will happen in the future, so if you are constantly worrying about the future what time will you have to live and love the present moment.
How does one go about "Slowing down the mind" will it's very simple just do one simple thing, meditate. Yes meditate. Sit in a peaceful location where you won't be disturbed for a while. Sit down or lay down, play some nature sounds or soft music, anything that relaxes you. The main steps you need to do is to take long deep breaths. focus on your breathing, and try not to think about anything. This without a doubt will be difficult at first but you just have to stay consistent with your meditation. A trick that helped me in my starting stages is to listen to guided meditation on youtube, where experts will help you clear your mind and have a very relaxed meditative session. Try 15 mins every day the 1st week and then gradually increase your length of meditation. If you stay constant you will see changes in your life. You will become more aware. Aware of what you may ask? ill let you answer that question for yourself. Staying Constant is very important because when you become aware. Its like working out, if you stop going to the gym, you will lose your muscles. So if you stop meditating you will then realize how lives truly suck because you won't be living in the present., you will end up back in the garbage bin.
