Uncertainty and unpredictability are terrible and ubiquitously avoided. We know everything, but we are sure - in even more. Self-confidence lives in our thoughts and actions with luxury inaccessible even to eminent billionaires. Today - having reached the level of a new fetish - we hide behind a "reliable" shield of figures and graphs of analytical departments. Confidence in "costumes" - a colossal! These "experts" pretty accurately (in personal representation) poking into our faces projects of the future, and we pick up these ideas and broadcast, broadcast, broadcast (without forgetting to add your own). However, there are events that can not be predicted, and their consequences have an incredible impact on the future course of events. Only when such events happen are explained. That is the "Black Swans" of Nassim Nicholas Taleb.
Frankly, the "Black Swan" is not for everyone. At some point, the reader rises up, shakes well and remains floating in weightlessness. Analytic summaries, future prospects, patterns of markets, political order, expert opinions on and without, can be equated to paparing and warm-up of the language. Taleb without a shadow of embarrassment brings down the whole power of the black-eye theory on scientists and experts who frankly fool their listeners and colleagues. If you take everything stated in the book, you involuntarily begin to see the clownish outfit on the self-satisfied "experts" who are necessarily occupying the prime time.
The rebellious spirit is a distinctive feature of the narrative. Sometimes the text is thoroughly imbued with indignation towards short-sightedness and narrow-mindedness - the "degree" of the book is thus maintained by one hundred percent. And further. Having said that the narrative "pours", I brazenly lie. On the contrary, it is more like a long mountain stream: with dashing turns, swiftness and sharp stones. In many cases, the connection of small chapters (whether intentional or not - it is not clear) is completely lost. In some places the author grabs an idea, and at a frantic speed passes it to the reader, leaving the latter with the need to re-read a part of the text. The other extreme is the long layers of information that are filled with a lot of "technical" details, which sometimes can not be mastered in one sitting. Much, by the way, is suggested to be passed without harm for understanding.
I do not want to disclose many maps, but do not mention the tele-Centralstate and Kraynestan - an impermissible impertinence. In these terms - in my opinion - the cornerstone of the narrative is laid, which can determine the choice of a profession, hobbies, strategies for achieving personal success. Yes, it sounded loud, of course, but this is not so much as one can thank the author for such valuable information.
If such an unpredictable world does not suit you - it's not scary! You can choose a reality where the "black swans" turn gray, losing power and influence. Here is another hidden book insider ... After all, the choice, like thousands of years earlier, remains for us.
