Some people who follow this blog of mine might know this, but I suspect most don't. A while ago now, I started a Spanish youtube channel by myself with the idea of sharing humanistic values, and talk against bigotry.
My approach when talking about these subjects has always been kind and empathetic, but for some reason Youtube doesn't seem to think so.
Yesterday I uploaded a video of the story of the black ants to my channel. Its a fable, if you will, with the intention of transmitting a message against tribalism, against letting the hate for another group blind us into making uncontrollable choices that might backfire.
As clumsy as I may be when writing my ideas, when talking about them on videos or what have you, I doubt there is anyone who can make the argument that I was engaging in hate speech of any kind. I would even go as far as to say I was fighting hate speech, but alas, there are people out there that must have reported my content.
I did get some pushback when addressing Marian Budde on one of my videos. Maybe the people who hate cancel culture probably thought I should be cancelled for arguing that her message came from a place of love and had been distorted, but then again I might never find out.
To say I'm bummed out doesn't cut it. Yes, the channel was very small, about 61 subscribers. But I had amassed on there more than a hundred videos over the months and some of them, I think, were really good.
I filed an appeal this morning. Maybe I'll get lucky and I'll be able to recover the account, but this is just crazy to me, crazy.
