It’s my own fault for “looking into the subject”, but the truth is that the rabbit hole is so deep, there is absolutely no chance in hell someone digging up these ideas would not get lost.
Fabricated on “wrong science”
I don't really know when it started, and there is a good chance that nobody can actually pin the idea of being Alpha to a specific time or author. For one reason or another in western culture it’s become a big deal to some people. To be alpha, to not be a beta member of male society.
What is funny about this whole alpha thing, is that there is a good chance Alpha’s don’t exist in dogs or wolves for that matter. Yes, there is a pack leader, but it’s simply because it’s the one who made the pups.
The notion that the wolf fought another one and took over the harem or is as man made as kool aid. But for the ALPHA obsessed it’s become a universal truth that has metastasized in their identity core.
Why?
Why do some people these days obsess so much on the idea of being Alpha males or females. Why is the CHAD thing important? How is this good for society? Who the hell is promoting this crap to begin with?
I’ve begun to consider the possibility this is just what happens when a meme gets out of control. Meme’s are for all intent and purposes viral ideas, and their proliferation is not entirely due to their value. They live and thrive solely on their capability of spreading, like the flu or a terrible yet catchy song.
A world of insecurities
Here is where I land on this whole thing. I’ve not come across a single talking head who is not hiding terrible insecurities behind their whole Chad persona. They also hide other things, of course, like a scam, but that’s a point I already addressed so I’ll leave it at that.
As a joke, as men, when we are young, we do say stupid things regarding masculinity. Or at least I should admit this was the case of my generation. But, and this is very important to point out, it was always done so in the atmosphere of being silly and comical.
I remember vividly saying to friends that real men should not wear v-neck shirts, but the joke was meant to make fun of a member of our group that would wear them often. Laughing it off as youthful stupidity is precisely what we did, and nobody wrote that down as some sort of law to follow for the rest of our life.
Parody
I’ve been thinking for a while that these so-called Alpha males are just joking. They are either trolls, which is a profession these days apparently, or they are deep undercover agents of chaos. Whose sole purpose is to destroy patriarchy from within. (sarcasm font not available)
Some of the stupid thing’s Ive read or heard these days truly make me laugh out loud like an idiot. In no particular order, here is some of the things I’ve seen online.
- Having sex with women is gay, because women are soft and cuddly
- Drinking milkshake is gay
- Having more than 5 friends in your 30’s is gay.
- Real men don’t play video games
- Real men eat only at Hooters
- We alpha males don’t go around calling ourselves alpha (this one was ironically hilarious)
What now?
Who knows, who truly knows where this path is leading to. I mean, I think it has to implode just like the whole SJW thing did almost a decade ago, but it seems to be reaching critical mass at this point.
All these gurus, these incel leaders, these red pilled, black pilled, white pilled, fuschia pilled (ok this one I made up), are not only confusing, they are hilariously ineffective at conveying a cohesive message.
In other words: What the hell are you guys talking about?
The social experiment seems to be failing, doesn't it?
