As I searched for a photograph that would depict the message I'm going to share I was kind of stumped. Then I spotted the photo above of the trees reaching up to the light, to the energy of life. I thought I could use that as a metaphor, because the three Master Energies are powers that will sustain and support vibrant living and a fulfilling life. These three Master Energies are: gratitude, forgiveness and loving what is. What? Loving what is? Yes, that is one of the three and I will explain.
First of all, however, we must understand that everything is energy in it's purest form, even our thoughts, our words, photographs, art, music, and our posts here on Steemit. It's all energy. Some energies have a power to build up, sustain, lift, support, encourage, create, ennoble, and move one to Love. Other energies degrade, deplete, destroy, diminish, weaken, shame, and move one toward darkness. Here's the thing: we can choose what energies we want in our lives. Choose from the first list and you will be happy. Choose from the other list and you will be miserable. Simple as that. And we do have the power to choose.
GRATITUDE
I promise the three Master Energies have the power to change your life for the better. Let's start with gratitude. Gratitude is like a spiritual Windex. If ones life is depressing, discouraging, messed up, or even F###ed up the energy of gratitude can change that. This is not just a mental game it is reality. Gratitude has the power to erase negative energies and replace them with a very strong positive energy.
I recall a period of life I went through that was terribly dark and depressing. This was not just a bump in the road. It was not just a short-term situation that most of us go through. This was a decades long dive into darkness. There were many things I did that led me out of darkness but one of the most effective, surprisingly, was practicing gratitude. A friend of mine told me about his "gratitude journal" that he wrote in every morning without fail, and he encouraged me to try it. I began the practice, which I admit was challenging in the beginning. I struggled to write a paragraph; but gradually over time i got into the swing of things and not only did I become an avid gratitude fan, but the practice washed away so much negative energy I had built up that it truly did change my life. It has become a practice I continue to do, and one that has made my life so much better. Frankly, I am very grateful for gratitude.
I strongly encourage you to try it out. It really works, because it is a Master energy and has the power to dispel lesser energies. Truly it does. Try it. Get yourself a journal and every morning, or night, write all the things you are grateful for. Here is a pic of a one of my entries:
FORGIVENESS
This being human is the hardest thing I've ever done. Like many of you I've held bitterness, anger, frustration, and even hatred in my heart. I know what it is like to be full of darkness. i know. The only way out is to forgive. This, like gratitude, is another spiritual Windex. Forgiveness releases YOU from the grip of darkness. Certainly to forgive can be a great blessing to those who have wronged you but by far the greatest beneficiary of gratitude is YOU. You will be free of the darkness that quite literally can consume you and ruin your life. The fact is that if you continue to bathe yourself in the shit of anger and bitterness you will literally attract more of the same. We live in an interactive, responsive cosmos. The energies that you create attract more of those same energies, until you become the one who is cursed, is darkened, is lost. Forgive. Forgive. Free yourself. Plead with God or your higher power, whatever that may be, to give you the power to forgive.
And who should you forgive the most? Yourself. None of us are perfect. We all are fools. We all make mistakes, but I promise you that you can search the world over and you will find no one more deserving of love and forgiveness than yourself. Forgive yourself. Be free of the burden of darkness. This may take time and effort. But the miracle of forgiveness can be yours if you sincerely seek it.
LOVING WHAT IS
A young man who I have been a foster parent to hates stupid drivers. It's a pet peeve of his that he nurtures and adds to on a daily basis. it got to the point about a month ago where he was actually beginning to exhibit road rage. I was concerned for his safety and future, and of course was concerned he might cause an accident that might injure someone else. So I confronted him. First of all I told him we live in a strange cosmos, it responds to our intentions and energies. He has heard this from me many times and he knows it's true. I told him that as weird as it may sound his anger with stupid drivers only makes it worse... the universe will make sure that wherever he goes stupid drivers will almost magically appear. And then we discussed what would happen should he lose his temper and cause an accident. A credit to him...he actually listened.
Here is the rational argument however: would his rage change anything? Would stupid drivers somehow change into better drivers? Would his anger do any good, at all? Of course the answer is no. His anger would change nothing. So he had a choice, he could continue to be angry and let that infuse his life and make him miserable, or he could accept what is and work with it. By working with it I mean he can take different routes. He can avoid rush hour. He could even move to the country where there are fewer drivers.
Aa credit to him, he actually has been working on changing his behavior, but it's kind of funny, yesterday he told me he wants to move to a rural location! Well, that's not a bad idea anyway.
The main thing I want to get across here is that he realized he could not change what is, and that the only power he has (which is a huge power once one knows how to use it) is to manage his own mind, his own energies. He is the creator of his own reality.
Let me expand upon this thought. You and I cannot change the past. It is what it is. We cannot change what is in this moment. Let's say that tomorrow I break my leg. Of course I'll be upset. I'll be in pain. I'll be frustrated and so forth. But ultimately I'll still have a broken leg and of course the only thing I'll have control over is my mind, the energies I create.
It is rather amazing at how we humans react to crappy situations. We'll hold onto the crap and smear it in our hair and roll in it and tell everyone all about it and ... well you know what I mean. We grasp ahold of the negative energy and will keep it. We give up our power to others, to situations, to the past. I do not propose we turn a blind eye to injustice, to injury, to crap. Nope, not at all. In the voice of Forrest Gump, "...shit happens." But we CAN let go of the our crappy behaviors and attitudes. This requires a huge transformation in behavior that many avoid like the plague. It requires we become responsible. Responsible for our own happiness. It requires we accept what is.
Yes, shit happens, it is what it is. Are you going to hug that shit to death or are you going to let it go? Letting go is the third Master Energy. Practice letting go of all the negative energy you create about things, about life. Why shouldn't you? Don't you want to be happy?
Just so you know, I for one have not yet learned to walk on water. I'm still learning how to manage my own mind and behaviors. I still practice gratitude, and forgiveness and letting go, accepting what is. I'll be practicing the rest of my life I am sure. But I have to tell you, I'm much happier now, much more at peace, much more pleasant to be around, much more loving and compassionate. Life is better for me because I have accepted responsibility for my own thoughts. Ultimately, this is the key is it not?
