I don't know how many times on the internet I've seen people write things like "you're not special", alluding to the idea that one does not deserve anything better than anyone else. While I don't necessarily disagree with the sentiment, I DO think that everyone is special - not special in that they would be any better or worse than anyone else, but in that everyone, and I mean everyone, is completely unique in their beingness. Yes, everyone IS a fucking special snowflake, because everyone IS different. No matter what, you cannot change that matter. Yes we have similar needs and wants as human beings, yet the way we express those things is different and unique to every single human being - everyone has their own personality, their own identity that is formed through all the different components that make that person.
Special doesn't mean better. It doesn't mean worse either. Humans have a tendency to see things as either good or bad, black or white, but that fear based mentality doesn't necessarily say anything about reality itself. Reality is objective. It doesn't have a human label attached to it - it just is. What humans often forget is that our judgments don't say anything about reality itself. You using terminology such as "realist" to justify your judgments does not make them any more objective. Judgments are always based on fear. Fear is a choice. Make a different choice and your reality will change.
So yes, no matter what anyone might say or even what you may think of yourself right now, you ARE special, because you are unique. You have the way you express yourself that is unique to you. So revel in that, immerse yourself in the amazingness that is you, and show that to the world - not because you are any better than anyone else, but because you are just as infinitely amazing as everyone else. And there is no shame in that.
