Can you feel it in the air?
I am yet to sleep but it is now 9 am, the opportunity is gone as my daughter is awake and my wife will soon go somewhere quieter to study. There isn't much time these days. I don't mind though, spare time for me has been in short supply for a long while now, and I enjoy it this way. Time is a resource and like letting the tap run while brushing teeth, most let it go down the drain unnecessarily.
But, there are changes coming, time is in short supply and I am not the only one to feel it. the market pressure on SBD is a pressure that many seem to have felt, a reminder about how volatile and unexpected the currencies can be and how quickly it all can change. Perhaps it is a timely reminder for those that get caught up in the FUD that Steemit has a long way to go, but the potential is there.
But, it is also a reminder that small investments can reap large rewards and those who have been consistently building are beginning to see a return. There is a massive asymmetrical return possibility in cryptocurrencies and in my opinion, an even larger one in Steem. The upside of the effort put in is much larger than the downside costs, at least for most.
On top of this, the earnings here can be used to generate even more while having the added stability of being tied to a real-world application on one of the most efficient blockchain technologies. Not many of the other coins are in the same field. The potential for Steem is huge and currently hugely undervalued. On top of this, the various technologies such as Oracles and SMTs are yet to be introduced. What happens then?
Who knows but change is definitely in the air and if you are yet to feel it, you aren't paying enough attention.
A lot of the FUD that people experience is created by people not paying attention to their surroundings, not developing their situational awareness and instead spending their spare time being entertained. They want so much but do not want to put any of themselves into it. Steemit is a prime example of this and with the highs of SBDs and the conversion rate to Steem, people are panicking and scrambling and wishing they had posted a little more, saved a little more, worked a little harder.
This is an opportunity of circumstance though and like nearly all luck, right time, right place matters but to be able to take advantage of the situation, right preparation is the key. There will be some people who will benefit greatly, there will some that gain a little and many who will chase the scraps. Who's responsibility is it to make sure we are prepared when fortune opens up a chance?
I write a lot about responsibility of the individual while many talk of freedom and rights. The right to do this, do that, say this, play that. But, when that pendulum swings and the FOMO knocks at the door, they chase to catch up and if the door does close before they reach it, they say. 'how could I have known, why didn't anyone tell me?'
The information is there, the signs are there, the trends are there and everything points to... possibility. There are no guarantees in this life so if one wants to get consistent results, one must act consistently to make sure the preparedness is at a level to take advantage or survive as the case may be. If one is only looking to do the work in the good times when returns are high, they will continually be outperformed by those hustling when times are low.
It takes a lot of energy to keep working when there is little reward in sight as one must fight the mind. The mental FUD, the naysayers, the struggle to keep working in the mud to lay a foundation for the uncertain possibility of chance opening a door wide enough to slip through.
I may be tired, I may be delusional, I may be wrong, but as I see it, change is coming and the asymmetrical returns get closer. The current situation is just a reminder, it is far from the main event. Hopefully, it will wake some people up and draw their attention to the possibilities, encourage them to strengthen their resolve, develop a framework and reinforce their foundations.
Invest in what you are doing as there is still time, but the air is shifting.
