Hello Steemanos And Steemanitas!
How I Improved My LIFE Using The S.C.O.R.E - Method
You can disagree, but I think that using methods and strategies can improve anyone's life. If you don't improve your own skills, other people will outrun you, and there will be no place for you in the high paced world we live in.
SEE IT AS IT IS - DON'T MAKE IT WORSE THEN IT IS - IT'S WHAT IT IS
-Tony Robbins (my mentor)
Don't get me wrong, if you enjoy the life you live right now, and you got EVERYTHING sorted out, well, kudos to you and carry on, I want to be like you.
Most of the people I met at the office, gym, or on the weekly hike we do with other dog-lovers, are not 100% satisfied with the life they have at this point. We are all looking for better opportunities, ways to make more money, have more time with the family, etc..
Nothing wrong, it's in our nature. And I think that 'emotional-drive' is pushing us forward since the beginning of human existence. To get the most out of your life and career, you need to commit to the S.C.O.R.E. method. It helped me tremendously and I do think it can change yours too.
If you read: I was Sick And You Visited Me, you know that I suffered from heavy addiction problems, countless suicide attempts, and a shitty childhood. During rehab, I came across this method, and it changed my life forever.
S.C.O.R.E stands for Self-Discipline, Concentration, Optimism, Relaxation, and Enjoyment
Can this method help you? Well, I believe it can, for 100%. If you master the S.C.O.R.E method, you master everything in life. Start with S and finish with E in every task you do, and you will enjoy everything you do! I give you an example for each word.
- Self-Discipline
Not that hard right? Well for me this was absolutely the hardest part of them all. I'm so glad the method starts with Self Discipline, I knew when I mastered this one, my life would be amazing already. Everybody knows that most of the time, the task itself is not that hard, but to START the task. Especially when it is your habit to procrastinate.
Start your day with making lists of to do's, even when you have nothing special to do that day. When you put it on paper, it becomes touchable, and you can erase it when you finished. You feel much better and can reward yourself for every little task you finish. You trick your brain and it starts to become addicted to the feeling of getting things done.
**Don't SAY that you are going to do it, write it down and DO it. Discipline also comes with routines. When it becomes your routine to finish what you start, it will become much harder to procrastinate. **
TIP: Do the task you hate the most first, cause you want that sorted out when still feeling fresh. If a task you hate bungles over your head like the 'Sword of Damocles', you feel shitty and not motivated to do other tasks well.
- Concentration
When you do something, use your full potential. Let nothing distract you from the task you committed doing. No phones, no tv, no dog or screaming kids. Just you, yourself and the task. If it's too big of a task to do in one go, split it into a couple smaller tasks (15 min or so) and reward yourself with a small break or a treat :) Again this is brain-tricking at it fullest, but it WORKS!
Staying in that hyper focus state of mind was the second hardest thing for me to do. Everything in my life is a potential distraction. I get distracted by sooo many things. Concentration was key.. If I found myself getting less focused when doing a task, I knew for myself the particular task was too big for me to do. So I split the task in more little tasks and I get the job done. I can focus for 15 min, I know it is not that long :). But using Pomodoro Timer helped me, my tasks or not longer than 15 minutes.
You need to know how long you can focus. So start with a task, put a timer on and when you feel getting distracted or less focused. Stop the timer and bam: This is how long you can focus! :)
- Optimism
Now its getting more fun. I am a super optimistic person, but for years of depression, I wasn't for a long period of my life. I thought everything was bad and people were evil. It only happened to me. I was so unlucky.... BULLSHHHTT. The bad things happened because I wasn't optimistic about life and my future. I lost all hope in human society. If you train yourself to see life as it is, beautiful, and a gift from God, it becomes more easy to overcome little setbacks.
But how do you do that? Well everything that happens in your life, happens for a reason. It's that simple and you can do nothing about it. The only thing you can do is: SEE IT AS IT IS, DONT MAKE IT WORSE THEN IT IS. Its just is what it is! Turn setbacks into something positive, you are not the only one who suffered a loss. Head up high and go for your next opportunity.
- Relaxation
Ohhww yeah. Nothing I love more than do nothing at all. Brainless watching Narcos for the third time. Its incredible. You should give yourself those moments, every time you finish something stressful, or a task you didn't enjoy doing. There are hundreds of ways to relax. You know what works for you. If its yoga, pilates, Thai Chi or a walk in the park, do it, just do it. Reward yourself with those you-moments. The last thing you need is a mental breakdown or Burn-out.
In an environment we live in, where everything needs to go fast and better, life becomes harsh if you don't take those moments of relaxation for yourself.
- Enjoyment
It keeps getting better right?? My hobbies are spending time with my gorgeous wife, to play with my dog, workouts and traveling. (I love food too) Make times for your hobbies every single day! You want to make life fun! You need those endorphins so never miss this part out. What do you enjoy doing? How do you keep that happy vibe? I love to find out!
