This photo was made at the Zaovine lake, western Serbia. It's an artificial lake created as a reservoir for the hydroelectric power station, from the river Beli Rzav, between 1975-1983. During that period many villages were flooded. The depth of the lake is up to 110 m. Water level can be changed by few meters in just one day, so it is possible to see the whole forest of dead trees as the one from the photo.
