I'm giving it a go! Brand new here to Steemit, and especially photo contests. 'Twas a bit of a learning curve to figure out how to enter but I think I've got it down so I will be submitting a ton of times just to get some of my work out there and to train my muscles how to think about entering. It's like working out, but for my brain.
If for some reason it looks like I've done something wrong, I would not be opposed to some constructive criticism to learn how to do this better and become a part of the community.
This is one of my submissions for #photochaincommunity PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY PHOTOGRAPHY contest, by .
Idk if portraits have to be of people but this little guy definitely deserved a portrait. I was visiting the saddest zoo I'd ever been to, in Tanzania. The cages were extremely small. To show off the animals the guide might jump in and just aggravate the animals to make them do something. The hyena cage smelled of literal feces, was as dim as a cave, and they were extremely dirty. I didn't know what to do and to not start an argument with my friends that had brought me, I simply stayed quiet. I don't hate zoos and believe they can be done in a way that makes life bearable for the wildlife. This, however, was not one of them.
Thanks for checking it out!

Ian Hanson
