This is an old castle build by an Uruguayan businessman in 1894 and completed in 1897, in a small town called Piriapolis, Uruguay. It was build as a private residence for him and his family. He also owned approximate 2700 hectares surrounding his residence where they grew chestnuts, olives as well as tobacco and grapes. Today the castle is a museum owned by the municipality and serves as a tourist destination as well as hosting many cultural events. Most of the ground has been sold to private individuals only the animal park he established has to remain as is and to this it is visited by many locals. Entrance into this park is free, and its a lovely outing for an enjoyable walk.
