This photo of a young Mongolian girl drinking mares milk was shot in a ger in Central Mongolia 10 years ago.
People often ask me about the lighting set up in the image and as someone who only uses available light in his photography, the answer is quite simple: The morning light is streaming in from overhead through a hole in the top of the ger (all Mongolian tents have them). The light that is missing the girl's head is then bouncing off her milk and lighting up her face.

If you are using available light in your photography it is important to notice how different colours and surfaces can reflect your natural light in order to make your images rarer.
Below is another image shot on the same occasion (the above girl is now sitting second from the right). The children are playing a game on the table and now the reflected light from that white surface is creating the lighting scenario.
