When I was a kid a was really into magic, I would love puzzling people and making them think. I liked the sense of knowing something that they didn't. Maybe it made me feel a bit empowered but I quickly came to realize that being empowered comes with responsibility. I would feel the need to keep getting better to keep impressing people or else the empowerment would die. The lesson I learned was that with power comes responsibility and without maintenance you will fall.
