Another visit to the local nursery today was a success. Not only did I get some photography practice in but we also purchased some beautiful ferns for our planters.
I love flowers yet, I'm not one who likes to fuss over flowers in a garden. They are high maintenance in my opinion, always needing to be deadheaded, pruned, pinched back, fluffed up or talked to.
My gardening style is more rustic. I like shrubs — either the flowering kind or leaves only. They are independent. I stick to a mix of texture and color. Our garden is mostly burgundies, chartreuse green, rusty shades of orange, fuscia pinks and yellows.
I now leave my camera to record flowers for me to enjoy without the fuss of caring for them.
Earth laughs in flowers.

Who loves a garden still his Eden keeps;
