Follow the Light
The Covehead Harbour Lighthouse in Prince Edward Island National Park was the first thing I photographed after crossing the 8-mile-long Confederation Bridge from New Brunswick and driving to the north shore of PEI, Canada's smallest province, the island that Anne of Green Gables imaginatively immortalized.
I know Anne would craft a romantic story of high adventure were she here, of a shipwrecked mariner from a far away land who dragged his half-drowned, bedraggled self up onto the beach after fighting the frigid, tempestuous Atlantic for many hours to win purchase on land, and crawled over the blessed sand towards the guiding light with his last reserves of strength, hoping and praying for the safety and warmth of the lighthouse keeper's fire.
PEI is an island for dreamers, to sit beside the sea and be somewhere or somewhen else. I liked it.
Steem update: I'm still here! Between work, travel, and an upcoming wedding (no, not mine), I'm in a sharing drought, but have been doing some rather exciting things and am planning more, so rest assured that the photo stories are piling up, and many posts from adventures past and present are Coming Soon, including: rockets, waterfalls and adventures with and
