What you're viewing isn't the Lonely Mountain from The Hobbit. This is Mt. Hood— one of many stratovolcanoes that reside in the Cascade Volcanic Arc of the Pacific Northwest. I spent a summer camping in the woods surrounding this volcano and it was an experience I won't soon forget. Unfortunately, my actual camera was out of commission when I took this trip due to a dirty sensor with no way to properly clean it. However, I feel my iPhone did a decent job.
Any support would be greatly appreciated! I'm currently looking to reinvest some of my Steemit earnings towards a new camera to take more scenic photos and time-lapses. This summer I'll be taking a cross country road trip that will span 7000 miles (11,265 km) and I want to be able to document it with the best equipment I can afford. It's my hope that the scenes I capture on that trip will fund my adventure, while also bolstering my geological surveys I post on Steemit.
If you enjoyed reading this post, be sure to give me a follow and check out the rest of my blog. Overall, my blog consists of scientific topics dealing with geology, meteorology, geography, food and history. It's also peppered with a bit of photography and journal entries. The goal of this blog isn’t to earn money per se. While that is a nice benefit, I’m more interested in networking, learning, informing and helping the Steemit community grow to new heights. Also, be sure to use the steemstem tag and join @Geopolis if you're a fellow geologist! Thanks for all your support!
