Pristine white sands, crystal clear azure waters. Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsundays is one of the worlds top 10 beaches, yet it is relatively free of tourists. There are so many beaches in Australia and the vast majority are just breathtaking. Our low population and extensive coastline means that even in places like this you can find peace and solitude in paradise. No big hotels and restaurants, no massive car park with bus loads of tourists leaving rubbish and making a lot of noise. Sure there are people here, as you can see from the boats, but look at the size of the beach compared to how many boats are there. And that is the only way there. This beach is on a small island with no bridges and no roads.
We sailed around the islands for a few days before we finally came here for a day trip. We dropped anchor off shore a bit and took the dinghy to the beach.
It's starting to get cold in Melbourne and I would love to be back on the "Mango Tango" sailing without a care in the world.
