Street Photography in Tokyo
Tokyo is every photographers wet dream. You can walk for miles and miles and still find insperiation and motivation to take more pictures. Every alley, every street corner and park has something to offer. Many street photographers swear by cities such as New York, I would say that Tokyo is one of those dream cities.
Architecture in the city is incredible, they seem to be knocking down and rebuilding buildings every 30 years or so, yet they still keep their historical monuments and buildings of significant. There is a large range of concrete post war building to modern architecture. Popular designs seem to follow the minimalistic concrete buildings and steel outer frames covering glass monoliths.
Down every street you walk you find something of interest, no two streets are all that similar. With some unique structure, land mark, park or temple in view. There is always something for someone.
Small parks are found every few blocks even in the center of the city, a breather of a different atmosphere that creep into the busy life styles of the every day person.
Even in this giant concrete jungle you can always find the traditional roots of the city, where nature and the old culture collide with the modern city life in the form of temples and shrines, showing the roots of the city In miles of concrete and steel.
As the sun sets and the city lights turn on, bars and restaurants come to life. The more traditional Izakaya style drinking establishments are open most of the night, the restaurants are open till late and fill the needs of the every day business individual. All night karaoke bars are found on every main streets that quench the desires of the night life.
The city centers are crowded shoulder to shoulder as people pass each other crossing the streets. Only after midnight do the streets become ghostly quiet.
As the seasons change so do peoples moods as they gather outside to celebrate the beginning and end of seasons.
Tokyo and its greater area are a street photographers dream. There is plenty to see and experience, recommended for any urban explorer. Until next time.....
