On failure and unsatisfying Plan B's
My entry for the Self Portrait Assignment of Week 1 of the second season of the Photo Games
I had grand plans for the self portrait contest this week, but in the end I was crushed under the weight of my own expectations and was unable to bring my better ideas to life. I spent all of today trying to brainstorm a new idea, and did, but it was far, far better on paper than in photo form, so I went to Plan B: throw on some sunglasses and stand by a gridded soft box.
It's alright, but it's not me, and it's not creative, and I'm kicking myself for not coming up with something better. It's frustrating when you have promising concepts but can't find a way to turn them into reality.
Since practice makes perfect, you can tell I haven't practiced creative photography in many months, but I was happy to have a reason to do so this week - thanks to and the Week 1 Photo Stars for hosting this great challenge! I enjoyed the break from routine and the excuse to work on a fun photo. Looking forward to the next creative challenge!
