Begonia's are one of my favorite flowering plants. They do super well in our back yard, and I pot many of them. These I photographed outside the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel we stayed at last weekend.
Begonias do very well if grown in the shade. On our deck they receive sun and shade both. The 'wax' begonia adds effortless color under trees and in shade gardens. These beautiful begonias have stunning, colorful flowers, especially when grown in pots on a deck or patio as I do.
Begonia is a genus of perennial flowering plants in the family Begoniaceae. The genus contains 1,795 different plant species. The Begonias are native to moist subtropical and tropical climates. Some species are commonly grown indoors as ornamental houseplants in cooler climates. In cooler climates some species are cultivated outside in summertime for their bright colourful flowers, which have sepals but no petals.

Potted Begonias at Hotel
In a short time, the begonias above will completely fill this barrel. By the 4th of July they will be overflowing to the point you won't see any dirt, only colorful blooms.
