Golden Coastal Lupine - California Central Coast
I seem to be all about plants today. Here's a scene I found while driving along the Pacific Coast Highway. Lupines are abundant in California. But these Golden Yellow ones are found along the coast while the silver (purple) ones are found in the mountains.
Its scientific name is Lupinus arboreus and it's endemic to California. It's widely distributed throughout the state so there's uncertainty about its true range. I always see these in Point Reyes National Seashore and less in other parts of the California Coast, so my guess is, that's where they came from.
Have you seen lupines?
