I have been supplementing my workouts at the gym with daily hikes. Here in the SF Bay Area, at least in the East Bay Hills, the days at least start very foggy. Some people have even gone as far as calling August 'Fogust' because of how cloudy and wet it can be...without raining. I wanted to take advantage. Where I live is primarily hills, even a bit more than that you would call them foothills if they were next to indisputable mountains. You need water even on the coolest days and hiking when its actually very warm would be ... less than wise. For now, when it is foggy, I am taking advantage.
At any rate, I was coming back a couple days ago and the sun was setting. It was breezy from the Bay, so the heat wasn't too bad, but given my road has a fair amount of traffic and no sidewalks, I didn't want to be out after dark if I could help it. I noticed in the dimming light something interesting and red on the side of the road. I hadn't seen it along the trails, but here it was. I, briefly, looked closely and saw it was a plant that had sprouted and had berries...and not much else. I decided it best to skedaddle and come back some time when it was a touch safer.
This morning, I did. I am not a botanist, so I don't know what they are. Any thoughts, steemians?
