What makes a great photograph? Certainly there are technical issues to consider, but assuming everything like exposure, focus and composition are up to snuff, what is it that makes a photo more than simply a good photo?
I’m sure the answer to this question will vary from person to person, but from my point of view here’s what it takes. A great photograph tells a story, but not the whole story. It gives enough information to draw the viewer in, then it allows them to interpret on their own. You might say it this way, a great photograph is a bit of a mystery.
The picture I have posted today is one that I believe has this quality. It leaves you wondering what character might go with this scene. The picture gives clues, but not enough information to tell the whole story.
