About a week ago me and a friend went on a trip by bike to "De IJssel".
De IJssel is one of The Netherlands youngest rivers over a thousand somewhat years.
I really like to go there although i don't own a car and it's a 2 hours forth and a 2 hours back kinda ride, the white tailed eagle is the bird that mostly triggers me to travel this distance.
The last decade the government worked on creating floodplains along the river which attract rare species like The white tailed eagle.
There's a young eagle couple in that area ,the young female showed up for two seconds and then flew of behind the trees i didn't had time to take a good picture.
This was my friends first time he saw one in the wild and he was very happy with it, i told him let's go and try to follow her he decided it was better to stay maybe she will be back.
Now eight days later i'm still thankful my friend told me to stay put, cause about half an hour later this Kingfisher showed up right in front of us.
what made it even more perfect is that he caught a fish and when he appeared from out of the water his colors seemed to appear even brighter to me.
From his totally black beak i can tell it's a male bird, his brown feet tell me that it's a young bird or else they would have been bright orange.
That it was a young bird is probably the reason why it came up this close to us when he was done with his diner he flew of.
So thanks to my friend Marcel and the Kingfisher for this pleasant acquaintance
