After all this time you learn and go through a lot. From very strong initial hype and almost religious feeling of the community it goes through different stages :) Those who are on the platform for a longer time probably know what i am speaking about. For the new guys, enjoy this feeling while it lasts as it feels really good.
For me these months have been special. I was even able to rebuy my photographic equipment that i was forced to sell to maintain my bootstrapped startup BeScouted. More than that i was still able to save up 3000 Steem Power and even more than that we have connected our photography community to STEEM blockchain and are bringing new talented content creators to STEEM blockchain and they earn STEEM for sharing their photos on BeScouted
We are not waiting for gratitude as we are not aiming for vanity. It has been our mission to help freelancers to earn long before Steemit was here so we continue to build our vision and STEEM blockchain is one of the tools that allows us to achieve that, for which we are very thankfull to all developers. We are also preparing for the launch of BeScouted SMT that we will use to build the global marketplace for visual content creators.
This is me sitting in Abades, Tenerife, in an abandoned leper colony building. This is a bit symbolic and shows that even the best ideas and good wishes sometimes end up in ruins. Somebody has to pick up and improve on that. I hope that necessary changes will be made and implemented and Steem will not become another abandoned town like Abades.
For Steemit to work you really need to devote a lot of time to the community, create quality content and interact meaningfully with other Steemit members which most of the time is fun, provided you have that time. With current workload it is a luxury that i can not afford and it instantly reflects on the payouts.
While reward distribution model used on Steemit is ingenious everybody knows the problem of extremely heavy top and some selfish whales upvoting shitty content. But it is very hard to employ ethics since money, and big money indeed is involved. That is why we are dedicating special attention to our SMT token distribution to spread it evenly and give a chance to everybody to buy some so that it does not end up in hands of a few whales and does not ruin otherwise perfectly good system as seen on Steemit.
While at times you get discouraged by that unfairness you remember the actual value that you get and try to ignore it, thinking of benefits you have received, that you would not have got otherwise and that makes things a little bit better.
Nobody in the world was able to develop an economic system that is equally fair to each individual yet. Maybe we will and BeScouted is working hard on different theories that start with Steemit and we are learning from the mistakes that was made on the legacy platform and will try to avoid them and fix some of the issues in our iteration.
It might take several iterations considering how new blockchain technology is, but we are strong believers that eventually we will get to a point where every author and content creator will get a fair reward that reflects the quality of the content that was created.
