Kay posing with elephant bones at the Tsavo West Lodge.
In 2016 Kay and I took a birding trip to Kenya led by James Bradley and John Sterling. It was a trip of a lifetime, and because I got in little birding today I'll take a trip down memory lane with some of my favorite photos from the trip, with an emphasis on mammals.
African Elephants have become endangered due to poaching for ivory. This photo is from Nairobe National Park.
We also saw Giraffes on the first day of our trip at Nairobe National Park. The park is so close to the city, that you can see the skyscrapers in the distance from many places in the park.
Impala were seen nearly everywhere there was open grasslands.
Oryx were also seen frequently.
Warthogs.
Black Rhinoceros are very endangered, and this was the only one we saw, a distant look in Nairobe National Park.
This is an Eland with several Heartebeast.
These are Thompson's Gazelles.
These Common Zebra slowly crossed the road while we waited and cameras whirred.
Grant's Gazelles were more common.
I'll end with a bird, Spectacles Weaver.
Great memories.
Good birding. Steem on!
