Mallards Anas platyrhynchos
These Mallards are our prototypical duck that feeds by tipping bottom up in the air, and eating vegetation under water in shallow places. Our ducks that feed in this fashion, most in the genus Anas, are often referred to as either dabbling ducks, or as tipping ducks. Which name do you think is most descriptive and interesting. Good birding. Steem on!
