This is a flamboyan flower. So far I have found 5 different colors of the flamboyan tree here in Puerto Rico: white, orange, yellow, red and blue, the most common is the red flower and you can literally find it everywhere.
When in full bloom the tree looks like a big afro covered in flowers. You can see entire streets covered in red flowers and people taking pics of it especially in the mountain area, near rivers and lakes. The flower usually blooms in summer but thanks to last year hurricanes the nature its out of sync here. I think this summer I will go "flamboyan hunting" to shoot some pics.
