Located in Kiev, Ukraine as part of the museum of the history of Ukraine in world war II.
The statue is very impressive monument. Standing 102m tall atop it's base and weighing an astonishing 560 tons (3 times the weight of a 747-400 airliner). It is another grandiose artefact from the Soviet era.
Construction began in 1979 and was opened to the public in 1981. Due to financial shortages the gas flame is use only on special occasions do to the shear use of gas.
Well worth seeing if in Kiev.
