One of the nice things about Sunken Gardens are the water features.
They are small ponds in different parts of the park. All are man made.
But all are on a scale that could inspire your own back yard pond.
And one particular pond has water lilies and koi.
As you can see they have vibrant colors and are like large goldfish. I found them to be soothing to watch.
They are social and like to swim with each other.
Koi (鯉, English: /ˈkɔɪ/, Japanese: [koꜜi]) or more specifically nishikigoi (錦鯉, [ɲiɕi̥kiꜜɡoi], literally "brocaded carp"), are colored form of Amur carp (Cyprinus rubrofuscus) that are kept for decorative purposes in outdoor koi ponds or water gardens.
