Little planets images... interesting isn't it..
Introducing my wife Jocelyn on Steemit platform for the first time!
I took this photo in Japan during our honeymoon in Kawaguchiko Jr Station near Mount Fuji.
Unfortunately, her face was rather blur in the panorama picture, hence i took the opportunity to test out the little planet style.
Here's a quick tutorial on how to do it using GIMP:
- First you would need to find a panoramic picture which is:
- Horizontal - the both ends should look somewhat similar (texture & height)
- Has similar lighting condition overall
- Next, edit the picture if the 2 ends are not similar enough
- You can process the colors of the image however you see fit
- Use the Polar Coordinate filter (Filters > Distort > Polar Coordinate) and use the following settings:
Note: In my case, the original picture i used did not have similar endings, there's the bus stop structure on the right side (i had to edit that out)
- Circle depth in percent: 100%
- Offset angle: (Anything, as long as your subject is oriented properly)
- Un-check "Map from top"
IMPORTANT if not your image might end up looking like this:
That's all, you're done.
Good luck & have fun with it :)
(p/s: let's see if markdown is working properly on haha)
