The fabulous "The Ditch of the Yellow Dragon" presents wonderful natural swimming pools on several levels. Each level carries different colors, this unique landscape is reminiscent of the terraced rice fields.
Things to know about the "Yellow Dragon Ditch" in Huanglong
Huanglong has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992. It is located in the Songpan District, in the far north of Sichuan in China, about 200 km from Chengdu. The Huanglong waterfall is nicknamed "The Yellow Dragon Ditch" or "Five Color Ponds".
The "Yellow Dragon Trench" is located near the intersection of four floral regions: Eastern Asia, Himalayas, subtropical and tropical zones of the Northern Hemisphere.
In the mysterious and surprising valley of Huanglong, you will admire peaks covered with eternal snows, rich forest ecosystems, spectacular karstic formations but also waterfalls and hot springs.
The Huanglong area is home to several endangered animal species: the giant panda, the brown and black bear, the leopard, the gorilla antelope, the Sichuan camouflaged gnarled monkey, and many other species.
