And yes, we have farms, too!
But not all of us are named Old MacDonald and sing E-I-E-I-O. We are mostly hard-working people trying to do the best we can for ourselves and our families. Of course there are exceptions, as with anywhere you travel. But a high quality of life can be found here in our state. If you were lucky enough to have German ancestors who bought vast tracts of farmland 150 years ago, you are likely doing quite well, financially speaking. Farming pays BIG, especially for those who don't owe a bank for their ground or their equipment.
A nice part of my job is that I get to drive around quite often. I go to some remote areas, and on this particular day I saw some rural beauty that I felt is worth a Steemit post. What you can't tell from these photos is that it was 98 degrees Fahrenheit as I was out and about. Needless to say, I was hot. But in the open country, the wind blows hard like a giant shop fan, so 98 feels much more comfortable there than it does in town.
Please enjoy these snapshots of rural Iowa under the summer sun.
After those hot, humid images, a swimming pool would feel really nice, wouldn't it?
That post will be coming shortly! Thanks for viewing, and have a great weekend! As I write this, a strong northerly breeze is blowing through the house, ushering in much cooler temperatures for the weekend. I am so excited to catch a break from the heat! We may actually drop into the upper 40's Monday morning, which is incredibly refreshing!
