Branching out towards the SW from the main northern ridge of the Retezat Mountains in Romania, Creasta Slaveiului alpine ridge starts from Judele peak (2398m) and continues after a saddle with a series of sharp peaks: Santamaria (2400m), Slaveiu Mare (2346m), Slaveiu (2344m), La Clince (2074m) before descenting into a valley. To go up you usually start from the glacial lake Bucura(2040m).

This is where you would typically set up camp and maybe leave some gear with the mountain rescue team at the shelter (not around during winter). Then you wait for a favorable weather window and go up towards Judele Peak and when you reach the saddle bellow the summit turn left and follow the ridge along the top. You should find a small trail at times and maybe stone markers (little towers made with stones). Watch your step, it is kinda treacherous. Then after you pass over the peaks mentioned above you should be able to manage to get down to a valley there the terrain gets a bit more manageable. This is a not so touristic trail and is only suited for someone with good mountain experience and scrambling skills. Do not attempt in any kind of bad weather or without adequate gear & supplies for 1.5 days (plus emergency gear for unexpected stuff - medical kit/waterproof bivuac bag and headlamp).
