Hello Steemit Fretz!
One of my highlights when visiting Boracay this year was this wooden Tricycad outside Station X. Station X is a mall that you can find outside of the white beach. You need to ride a motorcycle going there.
Station X was famous of their eating place called The Street Food so I had been murdering Google Maps on my first two days just to locate the place. It is highly recommended by bloggers so I ought to check it out.
As soon as I went down the motorcycle I saw this wooden tricycad parked outside. This tricycad instead of being metal made it is made of rattan.
Rattan - are long spiny palms that are very popular in the furniture industry.
What is a Tricycad?
Tricycad (Tri-C-Cad) - This is a mode of transportation in the Philippines that is made up of a three-wheeled bicycle, that is custom made to occupy three to four people. In manila, they call it pedicab.
This transportation is usually used in small barangays where a tricycle (three-wheeled motorcycle) could not enter. They are only used for short distances since this contraption is done manually and there's no machine controlling this vehicle.
The white beach in Boracay is pretty long so for those who are too tired to go take a walk, they can use a tricycad to help them go from their hotel or to another place on the beach. Tricycads are very in demand in Boracay, and these drivers are one of those who are affected on the islands closure. Don't worry the island is going to be opening this October, so they will be back.
This is one of the source of living here in the Philippines. If you happen to see one when you're here, don't just let them pass by. Skip the exercise and ride one.^^
Happy Friday my fretz!
