Live Oaks of California are rare ... two of the last stands of them in San Francisco became the northern and southern bookends for the bulk of the city's famous Golden Gate Park.
There is still gold in California's hills too ... in April, the live oaks' new leaves come out in golden-green, and I make it my business to walk the remaining Oak Woodlands and the places where they meet the rest of the park. This picture is of one such place, and one that could only be captured in the stunning light of this day -- April 21, 2025 -- with a panorama. Some of these trees are so old and so big they themselves require a panorama ... I climbed up a hill as high as I could to get even this imperfect image of this huge live oak ...
... but that line of them, all down the side of the road with the first of them by me there, was my favorite thing and best panorama from the Oak Woodlands this year!
