About a month ago Sabrina and I photographed our last wedding in Vancouver, and it was an awesome one. The couple were the epitome of what we love to work with: chilled out, fun loving, adventurous, stylish, and covered in tattoos. We had such an awesome time with them, mostly because they were so relaxed about everything, but also because you could tell that they really genuinely loved each other. Not to get all cheesy and blather on about the importance of wedding photography, but to be honest it is really cool to be able to document the day that people commit themselves to each other. Seeing such raw, natural emotion is a really cool experience, and being able to capture it in images is even better.
Anyhow, these two were a real treat to work with, and we think their photos turned out awesome. I've already posted a sneak peak of a shot that we took of them on their post wedding day shoot, and in the next post I'll be explaining that in a bit more detail, and sharing some more of those photos. For now here is a selection of our favorites from their wedding day, which includes the time that the groom surprised the bride by letting her know he had hired their tattoo artist to tattoo their ring fingers with an anatomical heart... AT the wedding!
A great trick to get a unique first kiss shot is to talk to the officiant before hand and ask if they wouldn't mind stepping aside just before they announce the bride and groom for the kiss. That way you can swoop in real quick and not only get them kissing but also get the audience and their reaction as well!
That's the groom's grandmother and mother watching him get tattooed immediately after his wedding ceremony!
The bride has such awesome facial expression, always laughing and joking, making awesome faces, they were such a joy to work with.
The finished tats on display!
And a quick fun shot at the end of the night.
Well that's it for our last wedding in Vancouver, I hope you like the photos!
