In June 2014 hubby and I undertook a day trip visiting some small towns in the vicinity of the small fishing village of Gansbaai where he used to fish from at that point in time. (Gansbaai directly translated is Goose Bay 🤔😂)
Many South African town names do not translate well due to its Afrikaans (similar to Dutch) roots.
We started our trip to the small town of Napier via Baardskeerdersbos having to take a dirt road with our 4 by 4 truck as they were busy with some roadworks along the route.
change of route ahead
Some dirt road driving
stopping to pose at some old buildings on the way
some really old architecture seen in Napier
An old ruïne on the farm where we stopped to greet friends
The friend is a pig farmer so I had to snap the little piggies
Another road out of Napier
Leaving the town of Napier we drove to Hermanus and stopped by the lagoon for a picnic.

We spent the night in Hermanus and continued our trip to Gordon's Bay the following day via the small towns of Betty's Bay, Rooi-Els and the magnificent Clarence pass.
